Leroy Sane Biography

Leroy Sane is a professional German football player. He is a winger and attacking middle fielder for the German national football team and the English Premier League football club, Manchester City.

Leroy was born to Senegalese footballer Souley man Sane and German gymnast Regina Weber. He made his professional debut in 2017 with the senior team at ‘Schalke 04.

He was also the coveted ESP Young Player of Year for 2017-2018. He played for both the German under-19 football team and the German Under-21 football team during his international career.

 He has been playing for the German national football side since November 2015. He was part of the team that reached the semifinals at the 2016 UEFA European Championship.

Souleyman Sané and Regina Weber gave birth to Leroy Aziz Sané on January 11, 1996, in Essen, Germany. His father is a former Senegalese football player who played as a striker. His mother is a former German rhythmic gymnast who won the 1984 ‘Olympic’ all-around bronze medal.

His father, ‘SG Wattenscheid 09. ‘, was playing professionally and he met his parents. Souleyman, a French-born child, moved to Germany after completing his French military service.

Leroy was brought up in Wattenscheid. He attended secondary school at Gelsenkirchen. He was a part of the youth academy ‘Schalke 04’ with his brothers Kim and Sidi. Leroy’s brother, Sidi, was also part of the youth team or second XI major German football clubs.

In 2001, at around five years of age, Leroy joined the youth team of ‘SG Wattenscheid 09.’ He played there sometime in 2005, before joining the ‘Schalke’ youth academy (‘Nachwuchsleistungszentrum’) that year.

In 2008, Leroy joined the youth team of ‘SG Wattenscheid 09.’ He then moved to the ‘Schalke 04 ‘youth academy’ in 2011. He was a member of the youth team until early 2014.

On March 21, 2014, he began his senior club career at ‘Schalke 04’. He signed a 3-year professional agreement with the club. He extended the contract to June 30, 2017. On April 20, 2014, he played his debut match in the ‘Bundesliga. His first goal of the season was against 1. He scored his first goal of the season against ‘1.

In a qualifier match for the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, he also played against Azerbaijan.

On September 3, 2015, he made his full-fledged debut as a member of the German under-21 team when he beat Denmark 2-1 at ‘Stadion a der Lohmuhle’ in Lubeck. After 73 minutes, he was replaced by Julian Brandt.

He was called up to the German senior football team in a friendly against France on November 6, 2015. During terrorist attacks and shootings at the stadium, he played in the close match against France on November 13, 2015. France won the game by two goals.

Joachim Low, the head coach of Germany’s national team, chose Leroy to join their squad at ‘UEFA Euro 2016’. They reached the semifinals, where they were defeated by France 2-0. Leroy was absent from the championship’s final match, which took place on July 7.

His name was dropped from the final squad for the German national team of 23 players participating in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Julian Brandt was instead included.
