Riyad Childhood/Early life & Family Background

Riyad Mahrez was the son of Ahmed Mahrez (Algerian) and Halima Mahrez (Moroccan) in Sarcelles (France). His elder brother Walid Mahrez and his sisters Innes Mahrez (Dounya Mahrez) are his only siblings. All of them grew up in a very rough area very close to Paris.

Sarcelles was a notorious drug dealer and violent criminal back then. Ahmed’s father was a former Footballer. He played for time in Algeria before moving to France. His son started to love the sport, and he was there for him.

Le Havre AC (2010-2014)

He was rewarded for his hard work at Quimper with several offers from major clubs such as Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain. He was keen to improve his game, so he turned down the offers from Marseille and signed for Le Havre in France’s second division.

Mahrez had to climb up the ranks to make it to the Reserves team. Before Leicester City called, Mahrez scored six goals and played in 60 matches. Mahrez was dissatisfied with the Ligue 2 gameplay, where most teams were content to defend. Mahrez criticized the Ligue 2 and said that most teams were content to draw matches.

Leicester City (2014-2018).

In July 2018, Mahrez had signed for Manchester City for PS60 million. Mahrez was named in the 23-man squad for the African Nations Cup. He was also appointed team captain. In the 5th minute, Mahrez scored a spectacular freekick to win a match against Nigeria. This put an end to a tense match and allowed them to reach the final. Algeria defeated Cameroon by 1-0 to win the tournament and become African Champions.
